2001 PY ITR Indiana/ebay - what do you think?

Hi All,
This is my first post here and I am not totally sure if its allowed by the rules (did read them).
I have been looking for ITRs on and off in CA, but recently a bit more seriosuly. I'm watching this one car on ebay that ends tomorrow. It looks nice, but seems to have rust in a lot of places in the engine bay.
Since I am pretty inexperienced at this stuff, I wanted you guys to check it out and see what you think? Is it really rust? Would that give me a lot of trouble? A friend lived in the east coast (Boston) for 5 years and moved here with his GS-R. Everything in his car seems rusted whenever we need to change something. Even the brake calipers wouldn't budge to change the pads.

I remember this car from a couple months back. The owner was originally selling it for 14.5K....I wanted to buy it so bad but things came up and couldn't afford it
. From what I know about the car it seems ok. I never got to go look at it just lots of pictures. I think it was once broken into at one point because the original badge number is missing. It's on autotrader for 17,995

That is not the one that was going for 14.5k (unlesss we are thinking about two different cars).
There was a Type R for sale in Indiana (Close to Indianapolis). I drove from Chicago to test drive it. According to the seller car was perfect with 2 small dents. After I test drove it I learned that the car had a blown head gasket!!! the seller was like, lol I had no idea.........

I'm 99.9% possitive it's the same car. The vin matches the one that the seller gave to me. The one I'm talking about was in Fisher, IN. The owner of the car also told me that their were two small dents on the car but was taking it to a body shop to get it fixed.

did the guy have an accent?
well, let me tell you I saw the car and there was at least 10 door dings on each side (and those 2 dents were not so little) and the guy played an idiont saying I don't see anything. He was asking 14.5k for the car but he went down to 12.9k in less than a minute (that was before I drove the car). Took me few minutes to figure out that it has a blown head gasket (white smoke from the exhaust, oil smelled funny and it looked like mayo, also the temperature jumped to hot in no time
.
If that is the same car than it had a blown head gasket and God knows what else waw wrong with it...........
also the drivers side window was replaced (due to attepmted theft or something), and the shift knob was one of those cheap ebay knock offs.
this one really pissed me off because I drove 200 miles each way from Chicago!

That is the normal rust spots. Anywhere else and I would be worried.

you might want to past, up to you, seems like a lot of issues before you even bought it! look at 200 miles as time well spent to really check it out!

Yeap I guess you can look at it that way.
I'm very picky about cars I buy and it took me a year to find a mint Type R for a good price. I had to drive to Pittsburgh (470 miles each way) this time but it was well worth it
