My bad I found the info on the acura website.

The ratio was quickened to 15.7:1 with a lock-to-lock of 2.85.

The 1997+ models has a 16.1:1 ratio with a lock-to-lock of 2.98.

I wonder why Honda just barely changed the ratio in 2001; why didn't they offer noticably quicker steering while they were at it?

Nope it's in 2001, last year of the Integra.

So are there anyway to improve older models? Any conversions?

you could get one of the newer racks or try to swap in a manual civic rack and get the quaife kit.

I see. I wish honda improved it even better to something like s2k's 14.9:1 ratio, well is that possible?

The 2000-2003's 13.8:1 ratio would have been even better but it's electrical steering so I doubt it will hook up to an ITR....

Also I see no sense in swapping a 16.1:1 rack for a 15.7:1 rack; you won't notice the difference, or it will be too small to notice for the price the swap will cost!

Someone talked about a Quaife kit; what's that?

The QSR quick ratio rack and pinion gear set is perhaps the most underrated performance part around. The Quaife rack and pinion gears simply replace the existing pieces inside your stock steering rack housing. More rapid steering response is felt with an average of 25 percent reduction in ratio, resulting in fewer turns lock-to-lock: this translates into much quicker steering and turn in at the cost of a slight increase in effort. The QSR is a must for autocross, drifting, and track days. Designed to fit manual steering racks only. Not for power steering

I noticed a pretty drastic difference.

As I was once told, Unless it's a pure race car and that's all it's used for the QSR is not needed.

I never auto-xx my car so I opted to install a manual Del Sol rack. Much more room to work w/ & about 30 lbs. lighter.
