I believe my pistons went out on my 2000 ITR. Because I am getting alot of smoke out of my exaust, also my oil is burning really fast. Or it could be the rings. But I was wondering what would be a good replacement if my piston did go out. I am leaning towards getting a JE Pistons with a compression ratio of 12.0.1 or the CTR Piston w/a compression ratio of 10.8-1. I wanted something that will be reliable on the long run but at the same time quick. And if I do end up changing the pistons is there any modifications I have to do? Any tuning? I would appreciate it

12:1 is a bit much for typical street driving on pump gas. I'd personally go with OEM, or a bit lower compression (lower than 12:1) if reliability is your main concern.

First, look into tuning options and cost, this will be a pricey part of the setup. Along with tuners in your area, You will have to get it tuned properly for it to last. So find a tuner you like and go and ask him questions about what he reccommends and actually had formal training in.
