Need feedback on upcoming swap!

Post by itr590 »

I JUST BOUGHT A 2000 PY ITR #590. IT SLUNG A ROD ON THE WAY HOME (JUST MY LUCK). WITH MY FINANCIAL OPTIONS AND THE LIMITED AVAILABILITY OF B18C LONGBLOCKS, I OPTED FOR A CTR MOTOR (B16B) WITH 30K MILES, COMP AND LEAKDOWN TESTED, AND 30 DAY STARTUP WARRANTY... I HATE TO TAKE THE B18 OUT OF THE EQUATION, BUT WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THIS CTR IN MY TEG?

Yeah. Just rebuild the old block. If the car is your main source of transportation you probably can't have lots of down time. If that's not an issue, I wouldn't even spend money on a ctr. I'd just take that engine out and put that money into the c5 to rebuild it. While I'm at it. I'll throw in new internals for more power with the spoon block brace and get her to rev to 11k. lol. Or just rebuild it stock. <-- That way you'll have the original motor at zero miles. 8)
