Instead of getting second hand info, did you contact your local dept of motor vehilces?

My recommendation: buy a JDM R that is already registered. If you look around, there are plenty out there and usually for decent prices. All ive heard when it comes to registering a JDM car is horror stories so ure best bet is to let someone else deal with the hassel and you reap the rewards.

And daily drivability is all good with USDM Rs. Depending on how much you get fast food, you might have a problem with a JDM one tho. Unless of course you eat a lot of Rallys.
