This is the closest thing I have seen thus far...just out of my price range, maybe it will work for you.

Take care,

That is a really nice R and its actually in seattle which is really close to me since I am in spokane but the add says the car has dents and dings plus it has extended studs. I need an R that is flawless and has no mods whatsoever. Thanks for looking out :)

No offense, but you'll be looking for a long time if you're that picky.. finding a 97-98 that meets your criteria is going to take a while. You'd be better off buying that 97 and putting stock wheel studs in it (take a whole hour or two)... it's easier than putting a stock front end on a JDM front car! 8)

Have you looked on Autotrader.com? There are a whole bunch of Type Rs on there, some with low miles.

Did you take a look a the one from Chicago? It has 34,000 miles and he's asking 20K. Yeah, it has a dent in the rear quarter panel but you can't go wrong for the mileage. Also, the one up in Seattle is a 1997 with under 50,000 miles. Going with either of those would would be good choice. Unfortunately, you have no room to be picky. It's not like these cars are readily available. But I'm sure there's some tool with rich parents who bought him a Type-R that he only drove 1 day a week. I know that there's got to be one like that somewhere. I truly hope that you find what your looking for, I really do. But if you get one, you would be doing yourself a dis service by not using this car for what its real purpose is. And that's to Race! No, I'm not talking about street racing but road racing, autocrossing or just high spirited driving!

Good luck with the search
(your going to need it!)

Concidering selling my R if the price is right. I am the original owner of a 2000 FBP Type R, 18,000 miles, non raced, non molested, non smoker, and never wrecked. Only a few stone chips on the front bumper cover from normal driving. Tinted windows and factory Acura driving lights installed by the dealership that I purchased it from. I"m just waiting for final divorce papers to clear the court...then I can buy & sell what I want. That should be w/in a week or two.

Mystic363 (Neil)

P.S. Is currently stock, has always been stock, as stock as it was the day I bought it new.

I really don't understand the "purist" attitude, but the exception of a JDM front end?

You wouldn't get one in great condition with extended lugs (and a few small dings that can be removed with PDR) but you'll take a hacked up radiator support and non-VIN matching front sheet metal.

Brian, I'm not bashing in any kind of way, but really... sit back and think about what I just said there. How much sense does that make? Personally, I too like the look of the JDM front end, but if I had to do it all over again... I'd just get a real JDM ITR... Your on the west coast, so Cali's not to far and if you take a look at Jeremy's MR ITR, it's in GREAT condition with low miles. I think you best bet (and unique) way to do this would be import an R from Japan, with the JDM front end already on it. That and you can get less than 30k miles (whatever it is in KM's) AND have your JDM front end. Just my .02

You have a great point Dave, I actually would prefer a US Spec R with oem front end over a real JDM Type R and the reason for this is I have heard its a big hassle registering the car and I dont know If I could get used to right hand drive. I will just wait patiently and eventually one will pop up. I appreciate your advice here Dave it really made me think twice about a jdm front on on a US spec vehicle. Thank you

While it IS a hassle to do on your own, there are many MANY companies that do all this for you, for a fee.

So say you want a Silver ITR, not here in the US but released to the Japanese market... now you have uniqueness and a JDM front car. I believe you could probably have whatever you want, with the mileage you want in a grade 8 or above for about 22-25k.

I think if I were going to get a JDM Honda it would probably be a Civic Type R since we never had them here in the US and you can get them cheaper. A milano red Type R would be really sick though. :)

I'm with you on the purist idea....when a car has mods and isn't stock, you better believe it was driven with those mod and intentions in mind.

But when you have a car that is totally stock performance wise, then you can almost bet that the owner did not abuse it.

Having a JDM front end is for asthetics only and doesnt mean that the owner redlined it every chance he/she got. While on the other hand, there are exceptions to every rule, but 99% of the time this rule makes almost sense.

Good luck in your search though cause these cars are definately a dying breed. Every other thread I read about is another hacked up ITR due to thieves, or just idiots that don't understand the value of this car.

If you do find one, make sure you lock it up in a time capsule and send it underground for the next million years, that way our childrens children would get to see a ITR in it's pure form... haha

later

I couldn't agree with you less. Not to argue, but you have no idea how a car was driven just because the owner put modifications on the car.

Take my ITR for example:
http://www.itrca.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=9560

Now, I do have a few modifications on my car, yet all are tasteful, have a purpose and are intended to highlight the vehicle's performance and aesthetics, and all are totally reversible. However, I drive my car like a friggin grandma, ALL the time. I guarantee you that my car is in 99% better shape both aesthetically and mechanically than 99% of the Type R's presently for sale, regardless of modifications or miles (hence my price). Total miles and whether or not it's been 1) kept stock, or is stock, and 2) dealer serviced, means absolutely nothing unless you're a used car dealer and use that as a selling point. Things like having a number matching car (meaning all body panels, motor, tranny, ect ...), impeccable compression numbers, service records, and absolutely no paint fading (original paint of course), IMHO are far more important (and more indicative of history) than whether or not the car has stock rims, or super low kilometers. ITR parts are readily available anywhere, and it's nice to have the stock pieces laying around in case you ever want to revert, but christ ... make sure the car has all its original pieces, and have fun with the damn thing! And regarding the JDM front? Well, there goes your number matching car down the drain.

A Perfect example of this is my new car, a 2006 Impreza STI. This is a 2 year old car with half the amount of miles as my Integra, completely stock, and dealer serviced. I can honestly tell you that my 10 year old integra is in 100% better shape than my STI ... and my STI is in excellent shape. I'm sure we've all seen the really low kilometer cars coming off a lease that look as if someone drove them into a ditch. I'll bet that anyone of us could take a brand new car, and within 1000 Miles, make it look 20 years old.

To reiterate:
Just because a car is stock, does NOT mean the car has not been abused. If you think otherwise, quite honestly .... you're an idiot. Plain and simple. And I don't mean to be offensive by saying that.

I agree with you, hence I put there are exceptions to this rule....

But, regarding buying a car that is totally stock as opposed to one that has tons of mods, there is a huge difference.

You, on the other hand modded your car for no purpose? lol

Driving like a grandma...you should hand over your keys and let someone that actually will enjoy the car for what it is.

99% of cars with mods has been abused.

with an exception to the rule of course, you being one of them.

I'm not saying that every stock ITR is not abused, but will give you a better chance when one purchases an R that it is less abused that one with mods.

If I can find one that is modded (tastefully of course), with out any abuse, then this is a win/win situation because I will be modding it anyway.

Not to banter... *cough* Rob *cough* but lets think about this...

If one mod'd his car, but kept all the original parts... then decided to sell... how best do you think he could sell it? mod'd or stock?

So not all of these "stock" cars have always been stock.... just returned that way for sale. I know a LOT of ITR owners have done this.

With that, Brian good luck in your search.
