Steering wheel and SRS light

Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket steering wheel, then switched back later to the stock steering wheel? Does doing that activate the SRS light? I was told by a seller of an R I'm looking at that you can unplug the ECU fuse and the light will disappear when the ECU fuse is plugged back in.

Did you do it in the first place? Sounds to me like it wasn't done correctly... the SRS light will come on when the SRS System sinces a code. You need to clear the SRS code. To my knowledge, you can't do this yourself. You need to take it in.

In your case, have him take it in and have the light taken care of.

The seller said he previously had a Spoon wheel on it but he put the original steering wheel back on when he put the car up for sale. He said all that needed to be done was to disconnect the battery for a few minutes (he couldn't do it himself?!).

I'd personally have him fix the issue, even if he forces you to split the cost of it. Safety first!

But sounds like a BS excuse... takes just 5 minutes and a wrench to disconnect the battery...

Check the title make sure it is clean and no wrecks. if the air bag has been activted the srs light will stay on untill the srs computer has been replaced. I know this from many experiences. take my word for it. get a car fax or something.

Not necessarily true...

take my FBP for example... no accidents, SRS/Airbag never deployed, but when I was doing some work on it, I had both air bags out of the car for a short time. Then I turned the key to the "on" position and the SRS light came on. I had to reset the SRS computer, NOT replace it.

To the OP, have the original owner fix the issue before you purchase the car. But it's also not a bad idea on ANY car you purchase to run a CarFax.

FYI: SRS Reset
http://www.team-integra.net/sections/ar ... cleID=1128

*It is not easy to do using this method. I'v tried several times without luck. I would recommend buying the SRS connector from Honda ($3) and using it while doing the reset procedure.
