I possibly bought a lemon...

I recently bought a 2000 "ITR"....
Or so I thought...
Turns out I bought an ITR w/o an ITR motor...
Turns out I have a b16 head
a JDM b18c block....not a b18c5 which is found in the ITR, I have a GSR block...
And a GSR Tranny...
How I didn't catch this, pure ignorance from me and a little deceit from the seller...
After some research I realized I needed a b18c5......
So my question to you all is this, where can I find a b18c5 swap?....
I was also thinking about getting a k20a....I was wondering if anybody here has thrown a JDM k20a into an ITR...

What are the basis for these conclusions?
JDM GS-R and ITR motors are both stamped B18C.
B16 and ITR Heads have the same casting.
Between these two things you may not be in the position you think you are.

Hmmm,
You're right, I was basing my conclusion off of what was stamped..
I'll take some pics of the engine bay for some more feedback.
All help will be greatly appreciated.
The fellow I bought the car off of was supposed to give me papers on the motor, said the original motor was stolen and he had bought a new motor....
But no papers...

Also the ecu...
OBD-1...
Shouldn't the car came with an ODB-2??

2.0 megapixel w/o flash...ehhh...
So I'll try to get a hold of something.
Stay tuned ITRCA, I'll need all the help I can get.
Thank you all in advance.

Sounds like you didn't do enough research before buying...
Good luck with that car.
Why would you buy an ITR without the correct motor & trans, to save money ?

Man that's a bummer... if i were you, i'd just go ahead and get a jdm type r swap. Very easy to find. It would take months to find an actual b18c5. And even if you do, who knows if anyone swapped out any internals or what not.

Well he told me the car had been stolen in the past, and that he received the car w/o any motor.
He claimed he bought a JDM b18c5 and had it tuned and put in by NRGtech if any one is familiar with them.
He promised me papers/receipts for the motor and the labor and hasn't given me anything yet. I told him if he fails to do so by Monday he'll be hearing from my lawyer...
I was under the impression that the motor was completely legit, 100% authentic, had a friend whom is familiar with the car (more so than myself) and it checked out to him....
Got a second opinion recently, whom wasn't too sure...
Thats where ITRCA comes into play, I admit that through my ignorance I have overlooked a couple things. This is no excuse for the sellers dishonesty....
I'll provide pics asap...

Sounds like the seller got over on you rather well. If there was legit paper work to go with the car he would have been happy to give it to you on the spot. I know I would have...
I'm thinking if you did not get them at the time of the sale you will never. Not knowing the history on the motor... It could even be stolen, I really hope not.
I suggest start looking over the entire car for 'iffy' things. I suspect there is more, sadly.
Try to get some pictures up asap So we can help you.
Just make sure they are clear and well lighted.

Does the VIN # all over your car match and have a '31' as the 7th and 8th digit(s)? Any tranny shots or at least the code # or lettering on it? I know B18C is the engine code for the JDM DC2-R, not sure about how to tell the diff. b/t the heads though w/o further pics/comparisons? Have you redlined the car yet? If so, any problems?

PR3 = ITR or CTR head, good.
Throttle body- looks off. get pictures.
Block- looks ok. as stated, B18C is the marking in Japan for either GSR or ITR motor. W/O opening it up can't tell.
Oh and your cell phone pics... they suck
Get a camera

Haha you can tell its a cell phone huh?
I'll get more pics tommorow with a better camera.
Any thing else besides the throttle body that you would like for me to take pictures of?
I'll try and get more detailed pics.
Also, yes the 7th and 8th numbers on my vin are '31'.
The title and carfax history report clearly state the car is a 2000 Acura Integra Type-R. The car was stolen in the past, the previous owner claimed that he bought and had put in a jdm b18c ITR motor.
But hasn't supplied me with any papers yet.

Yeah I noticed the absence of the OEM strut tower brace in your pics
. Like I asked, have you had the chance to redline your vehicle thru the gears or just rev it up to see where the limiter kicks in and how your tach reacts?

Yeah I got a chance to redline my vehicle and my tach reads me redlining at 9700-9800....
And I have the OEM strut tower bar, its just not on right now....
Still trying to get more pics, will keep you guys updated....

Oh and when its parked it knocks at 9000...
Also I have a Hondata s100 with a stock p28....
Should I have gotten the Type-R ecu?

9700-9800 redline seems awful high
Without custom valvetrain work, no OEM Honda engine redlines that high... Maybe your tach isn't calibrated correctly

My mistake actually redlines at 9000 even...
Don't know if the valvetrains had any work done to them...
The motor itself has had some work done to it...
Headers
Intake
Exhaust
Fuel Rail
Cams
Hondata S100 OBD2 to OBD1 stepdown conversion (IDK why they did this as opposed to the stock Type-R ecu)
Would the stock computer make a difference? Any idea why they do the stepdown?
Thanks for the help fellas...
Appreciated.

Actually I'm not 100% sure those are aftermarket cams.

Well as far as the OBDII to OBDI conversion goes I recently read an article in the DEC Import Tuner on the top 10 best engines and the b18c1 was in there and they had mention that the OBDI is more responsive to upgrades like i/h/e then the OBDII...I dont know if that applies to the b18c5 though but that might be why he chose to do that.
