Type r parts that must be changed from stock!

Just want to know what parts on a type r must be changed from stock for better performance i already have cai/header/ext/cam gears/fuel rail/reg and chipped p28.But what else will really help make a type r run better. Buy the way i thinking N/A i like to live on the red line and cant get enough of that VTEC sound. :lol:

Just because you replace a stock part with an "aftermarket" one doesn't mean it's going to give you performance.

Take the Skunk 2 intake manifold. Basically an exact copy of the ITR one. No gains there.

There's a TON to make the car run better.

Let's start with a list of the exact "mods" the make and model and we'll go from there.

like dave says need exact mods. and what your looking for. sounds more like boy ricer statement with live on the redline and vtec sound. but thats just me not hatin of course. whats the purpose of the car and how much do you have to spend

I want a quick street car and once in a while track car when i have time to make it to las vegas. And about the boy racer this is my second type r i my first one was in 2000 a bfp one i missed my first one so much i had to get another one. The type r has one of the best sounding motors ever and it just begs you to rev it high! My fist inport was a 1993 honda prelude 4ws bule/green in 93 so i have been in the import fan for long time. And i just sold my ls/vtec hatch and i wanted a more streetable car and the type r handels like it is on rails and i just want mine to be a little faster. Dose anyone have a jrsc on their car and if so how dose the motor sound with it on and would you recommed it for mine? and what about pulleys? I just never really messed with a type r before my first one all i did is lower it put wheels and a intake this time i want to mess with this one i just want to do it right. :mrgreen:

Also i own a acura nsx i have had it for 3 years now and if anyone need and help with anything on one i know this car well and any info you need i will help.

JRSC = heat. While they make "some" power over stock... IMO if I was going FI, I'd look into a turbo setup.

Again, list the specific mods you have, with the make. We'll go from there.

LHT solves most of the heat issues.
Second, I can't prove this (very old info).But I've seen dyno charts and talked with the owners that had very nice results from VERY pricey JRSC setups. The power that can be, is in the 300WHP+ range. Not too shaby!

But yes, For all the money to get the JRSC to some of the Snail power is not worth it and I'd go with snail power over a SC setup... IF I had to pay.

Right now the car has aem cold air intake, jvt 4-1 headers,skunk2 mega power ext,aem fuel rail,aem fuel press reg,skunk2 camgears,crowder retainers,hondata mf gasket,chiped p28 with type r mapping.

Have you ever priced it all out? You could do a K-swap and still stay NA and make the same, more reliable power without all the heat and other SC related issues.

While I love the powerband on SC'd cars (in general) I'm an NA guy at heart. Not that I'd go K either. ;)

Never heard of JVT headers. Got a link? As for the fuel rail and presure regulator, those aren't doing any performance gains. The cam gears are for what? You using stock cams? If so, why the crower retainers? I see no need in those parts as well. Also, the P28... is that an ITR base map?

I would do some more reading my friend. Some things on the car should stay there until certain "limits" are met. Say for example the Skunk2 IM... unless your making a lot of NA power, or go forced induction it just makes no sense to change. The fuel rail, I know John at LHT performance is still on the stock one, and he's making over 600 WHP on a boosted setup. If your just looking for performance, and not looks... some things just aren't worth changing.

If you want the "feel" of a good performance mod, while making no more WHP, look into changing your Final Drive in the transmission. ;)
