other engine oils one might recommend
I want so try and use some other engine oils besides the standard one from honda and was wondering what might you all use. Note- I don't really go for long circuit sessions right now just some commuting and little autox stuff every now and again.

Since I change my oil between 2000 and 2500 miles I feel that this is plenty good and affordable, besides Mobil1 got to exspensive for me because my caR burns so much
Oh and I use it in my 05 WRX since new and it has not burn a drop in 42000 miles. It's easy to find which is a big help when on road trips.

Burning Mobil1 oil owns me as well. Tried synthetic Lucas Oil Treatment, didnt do a thing. Needs a rebuild but thats gotta wait til i graduate (December). Kinda want to stick to synthetic oils but are there any available at ones local autozone/adv auto parts/pep boys (ie, not ordering it online) that might not make my car seem like a 2 stroke?
Rob, GTX is blend oil right?

plain old oil.
Autozone carries a few different synthetic oils, I don't recall but which.
I might just start telling people my car is two stroke

Which Amsoil? Signature Series 0W-30 or SAE 5W-30?
Do you guys know anything about Gulf?
Thanks.

I use Mobil 1 in all of my cars.

Amsoil is a bit pricey, however Mobil1 is the next best thing. I've heard bad some bad reviews on Royal Purple.

I use Amsoil, until I get too lazy to go to Orlando to pick up a bunch (we usually buy $800-$1000 worth so shipping is far more expensive than gas is for the trip)... then M1.. currently using M1 0W-30, or 10W-30, or 5W-30, but I prefer the 0W-30.

I've been using the Castrol Syntec 0w30 Euro formula in the R and my GFs WRX with success.
The DD burns oil so it gets GTX 5w30.

I run 10w30 Castrol GTX in both my cars these days. Cheap, easy to find, and I change the oil in both my cars very regularly.

I've used Royal purple for years. No complaints from any of the cars. For my chitbox cars, I've used the castrol gtx as pictured above with no complaints.

I've been using that same Syntec Euro for roughly 5-6 years. It's great stuff.98spec022 wrote:I've been using the Castrol Syntec 0w30 Euro formula in the R and my GFs WRX with success.

Re: other engine oils one might recommend
I just started using the Euro in Lucy...I like it so far. The R will get it when I get my oil pan back from welding. (Another BlueR special)
I've also used Royal Purple and Amsoil. I was happy with both but German Castrol is much cheaper so I'm trying that out.
