My old GSR which Nathaniel has now...they all did some nice work on the rust removal on that car. Chicago can be harsh on daily driven cars over the years, so the rear wheel sections needed some work.

Details on proposition (I'm sure he is dying to get his hands on your block) and status on whitey?
It's not going to take much, just a few body panels... rear quarter being ripped out, new paint, NBD. :)

Details on proposition, lets just say it's a deal in regards to rebuilding the 98 that nobody would say no to.

Awesome! 8) At least now I'll be able to compare the final results and make the decision on who I want to rebuild mine. :P

Yeah, hopefully he makes me a proposition as well considering there may be some sentimental value with ole 442. :D Steezy was telling me about some Acura techs in Wilmington who have a great reputation and do rebuilds on the side.

p.s. Glad my car is clean now for the H-T meet in VA this weekend. :joke

Yeah Ken & Red do great work. But I think I'm going to have jack do both back to back, makes the logistics of dropping/picking up a car easier.

Whoa, I hear yah money bags. (Although not having to pay insurance and payment on an E46 I'm sure makes it much easier to pour money into the beaters.) If the timing works out, maybe I'd drive you down to pick up the 2nd car that gets redone and drop off yeller at that time.

It has less to do with money and more about finishing what I had started a year ago. As far as ol' blackie that's more or less because it has 110k and needs PM work, pay now for PM work or pay much more for repair costs later.

If the black one was 100% mechanically sound and semi pretty I could see myself holding on to it for a bit while longer. Need to move to a larger garage w/ attached house.

I feel you. Be happy that you actually have a garage, it could be worse.

Who makes a good "beginners kit" orbital/rotary if there is such a thing? I never feel confident choosing individual products myself, I never got the whole sealer/glaze/wax/polish lesson and just want to start from the right place.

The porter cable 7424 is the best buffer in my opinion the best because it does an amazing job yet will not allow you to f' up your paint/clear. It is an orbital and not a rotary so it might not be able to get AS deep but you'll definitely want to start on one of these.

What are you trying to accomplish? Is there one vehicle in a certain condition that you want to fix, or is this just in general.

Yep my question was a bit vague- I guess the real question should have been will someone teach me everything haha.

I'm mostly wondering when to use each of the product categories, and how to restore and protect and shine my ITR  I figured since I'd be starting almost from scratch then a nice kit would be a good idea. I have a large and small orbital already but I know I don't have all the info on how to use it properly.
