My 2005 King Ranch F-350 Stolen (South Florida Area)

Post by JDM FACTOR »

Couple weeks ago my 2005 F-350 King Ranch was stolen right out of my driveway in the South Florida area. I know it's a long shot but if you guys see the truck going down the road with imsa and racing stickers all over it, it's mine. Please keep an eye out.

Still going through the investigation, still have no solid leads.

Really bummed, did a lot of work to the truck, only had 50k miles on it. Our truck was part of the uplifter program which made it rare I guess, one of very few 4x2's with sunroof around. Gonna be hard to replace such a nice car.

Yeah it was a powerstroke diesel dave.

Apparently they are hot ticket items for thieves. Talked to a neighbor down the street from me, he had one just like it, thieves stole it, he ended up finding it in Texas to be re-sold. Heard there's a group based out of Hialeah which operates with juveniles stealing the trucks then driving them either to Texas or the port to be re-badged in new VIN plates and re-sold.

That's crazy! Hopefully your insurance is good to you. Probably better (easier) to deal with them with a truck than an ITR. I hope she turns up. :(

Damn that sucks. '05 would have been the 6 Liter, any problems yet? Good luck finding it!

Where did you end up mounting your horns? I'm looking for a set of Nathan K5LA's for my F250.

Thanks Bradstard, yeah it was a 6.0L with barely any miles. I was just about to purchase extended warranty for the truck and I'm glad I didn't, that would have been awful.

I mounted my horns right under the front part of the bed on the passenger side. I don't think you'll have enough room to mount KL5's in that location though. Most people either mount them in the way back or under the cab. Keep in mind, when you plumb your air lines, you want the shortest distance of air hose as possible. Lengthy hose will give you a slightly delayed response when you trigger them and it won't be as loud with all the air in the lines, hard to say that about the KL5's but the shortest distance is key.

I do hope we end up replacing the truck with something equivalent but the newer trucks are big money and most come in 4x4 applications unless custom built through the uplifter program. I see it being hard to find a 2011 model in 4x2 used...

I can't say I have past experience with my R getting stolen but we all know how much we appreciate our cars, a generic alarm system will not do anything these days. These trucks are being stolen left and right and are being sent either to the port to go to South America or head to Texas to be re-badged with different VIN plates and re-sold. I recommend you secure your truck with not just an alarm but more in layers of protection. Alarm system, Stealth and Lo-Jack. Next truck I purchase will have more theft prevention measures than you can think of.

South Florida really isn't the same place it used to be when I moved here 15 years ago...nothing but theft and crime and it's all moving into the what use to be good area's of town.

Also, next time go for the 7.3 . :P They never die! I think Rob has almost 800,000 miles on his now with never opening the motor.

We had 2 7.3L throughout the years, one was a fontaine conversion and the other a lariat. Good truck all around. I'd only get a newer body style if I were to buy another one. 6.7L seems to be a much better motor than the 06-10' 6.4L
