ITR 00-???? finally back on the road..3 years later

Post by PhucYu00 »

Hi everyone,
I'm basically new here. I don't think I've made a formal introduction to everyone so I'd like to introduce myself and one of my toys. I'm 30 yrs. old and have been building and drag racing honda's since 1998. Going straight is a huge rush, but it's over way too quick. Road courses seem to be where real drivers go to play and I can't wait to learn. I still own a 2001 GSR with 3x more HP than my ITR, I'll line them up for some pictures when the R is finished.
After being COMPLETELY stripped in Chicago three years ago, this PY is FINALLY back on the road. I know she still needs work but at least I can enjoy driving around. Don't mind the AEM intake, I haven't installed my Mugen yet (I'm unsure how to, if anyone can help)
I'm looking forward to getting passed on the track by everyone (for now)

-Dan

nice! congrats on saving one. I think you'll be surprised how much of a hoot the ITR is on the road course (regardless of it's lack of power)

You may get passed by some beasts in the straights, but you'll be all over their ass in the corners. Have fun! She looks great.

Dan, we can easily get your intake installed. It's a PITA, but once it's over, it's over and yoru done. :)

PM me when your ready, or create a thread. Lots of us have installed them and know the tips to get it done.

installing the moogen intake isn't too hard but it definitely helps having a 2nd person available (if you have AC lines to work around). I believe when we did mine we removed the passenger fender liner and the transmission torque mount in addition to have a big prybar to gently push the AC lines temporarily out of the way.

It's definately the a/c lines and bracket that have me confused. I'm glad to hear that a/c can be kept. It looked like I'd have to defy the laws of physics to do so.

Bracket is "odd" at first. Get under there with liner removed and snorkel in place. You'll see how it lines up.

yeah don't sweat it, you can DEFINITELY keep your AC... During the install it will seem like you can't but it's possible, my 98 with that intake has AC. If you'd like I could take a picture of the bay to see how close it gets.

I'd love it if you guys can send me a few pictures of where everything gets placed and attached.

It is a true statement. You definitely keep your AC and have your intake too. Just be careful when you are bending the lines. It took me about an hour to install it by myself.
