Type R gripes

Post by TypeRTuner2000 »

I own a 2000 Type R heavily modified, i am still in High School, so there are alot of ignorant kids there, for all you type r owners don't you love this question, "Is that a REAL Type R?" those ignorant bastards. It's happened countless times. I also have a carbon fiber hood and repeatedly asked why i have a "Black Hood". Sorry guys to rant, but i've just been bothered by this. Respond to this if it has ever happened to you or if u have any feedback.

Yeah some high schoolers are ignorant, but i have a lot of friends who know a lot about cars, and i have no enemies, so no one ever screws with my car. Its a nice school, so i don't have the nicest car, my friend did get keyed. I got the car as a gift from my father before he died, so i was kinda blessed.

I dont know how many times I was asked why my hood was black on my old Milano Red Si. I guess its just something you have to deal with.

Type R rant

Post by TypeRTuner2000 »

Yeah we just get used to it, but girls are the worst. A few know their stuff. And to the earlier reply i think thats the definition of nitpicking

Yeah I'm in high school too. There are lots of guys that would just love to steal my car. If they can't steal it, then they'll key it or steal the red emblem from the front and rear of the car.

First off while not a feminist by any means- don't negatively lump the girls. By looking at them as "the worst" you are doing nothing to encourage them into understanding the passion behind both cars and driving. I laugh at you as I realize that if I were to ask you a question about your car, you'd probably lump me into that category before realizing your horrible mistake as I jumped into my Type R and drove away.
Second off if you are truely bothered by the "is that a real Type R" questions and explaining performance mods, why on earth do you have the car? If you don't like talking to people who are interested in it, don't drive a car that attracts attention. Just go out and get yourself something thats a dime-a-dozen, the questions will stop.
When I clicked on this thread I was expecting more like gripes like- people trying to steal it (yes its happened to me- luckily they were not successful), or the stock headlights suck- not gosh darn people keep inflating my ego by asking about it....

New to the site. I'm not in high school but they ask me the same thing all the time. I have a black ITR. I just took all the sign off it because someone tried to steal it.

Heck, I'm glad I didn't have my Si in high school, let alone a type R. But you see, not a whole lot of people own an ITR around here, so if someone asked me that...I would feel sorta flattered that they took the time to learn about ITRs and then that they actually noticed that I had one. Be proud of having something unique.

i don't think girls are the worst

anyway, i got my Type-R shortly after high school. You'll find that a lot of your friends become haters on you. It's a pain in the @$$. The all had nice cars before you, and then you get one up on them and they show their jealousy.

Oh well, my emblems have been stolen numerous times, and I'm tired of replacing them. I got them back as a Christmas gift this year. If they get stolen again, I'm not replacing them...Maybe I'll just draw them on with a red marker (joking).

Sorry guys, but since I've gotten my bike, my car just isn't gettin' as much love from me lately.

Do you mean replacement red Acura emblems? Or did you mean the red Honda emblems? If you mean the red Acura emblems, where did you get the replacement for them?

Whoa, I didn't realize that I would hurt someone with something that innocent and unintentional. I have no dislike of girls in the automotive world are in general, but in the whole girls that I know have no like, or sense of what I enjoy about my car and many of yours. when i said this i didn't mean women as whole, just my experiance with the ones know. Also no, if you asked me about my car I would ask you if you knew anything about them before i ttried to explain, like i would a man or anything else.

No you didn't offend me- thats a REALLY hard thing to do. I'm just trying to warn about the generalizations like lumping the girls because while trust me I'm aware of the fact that most girls aren't interested and don't get it- One of the biggest gripes I have is that there are so few girls who do (I'd love to get to race against another girl- or even just have one to hang out with), and of my friends (all of which are guys) their biggest gripe is that they can't find a chick who understands or supports their interest. But the thing is, when I got into the racing/car scene most of the time when I'd ask questions or tried to understand, the responses I received often had a different tone than if I had a guy ask on my behalf (ie more simple/less technical if I asked) and this was even after proving myself knowledgable and a very capable driver. The only guy that treated me on equal footing-with regards to car stuff- is now my husband.

Ultimately though, you are missing my point for my post though- say a girl is interested, and rather than asking a question that might be she fears might be seen as "dumb" or she feels silly to ask..she chooses to go on-line to try to learn more first so she can feel like she knows a bit more about the subject before asking someone a question so she feels less clueless/more confident on the subject before entering a conversation- and she comes across a post (one of the many that are out there) that does the typical lump the girls as annoying-question-askers, hopeless, and clueless (I'm not trying to call you a bad guy-or attack you you- or say you meant ill things towards chicks- I'm just saying from a girl's perspective this is how we see it!) It does nothing to encourage her into the penis-dominated world of cars. Sure shes going to have to get tougher skin to ultimately go out and run with the boys- but the learning experience has to start somewhere.

Back in high school (10 years ago) I was one of those girls- didn't get it, didn't want to get it, and had absolutely no interest. I went from at that time not being able to distinguish a Honda from a Ford (without looking at the emblem), not knowing anymore about cars than this is where the oil goes and this is where the gas goes -to quite a different girl. Now I daily drive a Type R, am a crew chief for a championship winning Honda driver, I road race, and can beat just about any guy at an autocross (except on the national level- where I do run in ladies class).

My point is- posts/comments that although may not be meant to be negative can come across that way (surely you won't deny that us girls hear/see/interpret things different from guys! thats the root of misunderstanding between the sexes!) Thats all I was trying to say.
I only commented on this as the only way I'm ever going to get any female competition (or dates for my friends) is if the little things that meant no harm start fading away- to encourage girls to ask silly questions so hopefully one day they'll grasp the big picture, more women will get on the track, and all the racer/car guys looking for a girl who gets it will get their wish too.

I drove my dad's old '69 Volvo 142 to school. I was just happy that the car ran, sometimes, and that I even had a set of wheels. I can truly say that if I had something resembling an ITR or that any sort of power, I probably would've died in HS. Appreciate the fact that you have what you have, you're too young to have gripes

Its not really that bad in my school parking lot i did worry but i think i worry more when i go somewhere else like the store or where there isnt someone watching my car. You dont really have to worry about it to much, just relax and enjoy your car everyday or you will regret it. If your like me then when ever you drive it you worry so much that it kinda takes away the moment. Just have fun and dont run your mouth and nothing will happen to it.

you said that you can beat just about any guy at the autocross? thats a great attribute, but that just what i accidentally said on a different leval, i could have taken what you said completely out of proportion, but i didn't. this is a friendly chat and i don't like arguing, at least while im typing. i do it enough during the day let alone on the internet. all i can say is I love women, i i love cars, i just havent found one that loves me, cars, and my car, so the day i do i will be very happy. And hopefully open enough to both sexes and ALL types of cars, Fords and Hondas.

Original Acura Emblems. $68 ea. from your Acura dealer. That's right, $68. Expensive mofo's. You can get the cheaper ones for $20 from places in your local mall, but they're smaller, and don't look as nice.
