I've just picked up a set of brand new oem CTR pistons for my 97 ITR.
In order to have a successful, reliable transfer into my motor, what else would I require? Do I need different connecting rods? Can I leave the head stock, or will that have to be upgraded. From what I understand some slight honing will have to be done.
If anyone who has done this can give me some tips it would be appreciated.
Thank you
CTR Pistons
If it were me I'd check and see how the cylinder walls looked when you took the old ones out. I personally would at least hone the cylinder walls. Your also going to need a new set of rings, a head gasket, fresh oil and all the seals/gaskets you opened when getting down to the cylinders. What I guess I'm trying to say is if your going to do it, take the time and spend a little bit extra and do it right.
Why CTR Pistons?
As Dave said:
New Headgasket
New Cam Seals
New Valve Cover Gasket
New Bearings (might as well)
New Rings (Make sure to gap them correctly, i prefer CP or Wiseco)
If you still have crosshatches in your cylinder walls, DO NOT HONE, your only going to make the cylinders out of round. IMO
Timing Belt and WP if you havent done one already.
good luck, run premium fuel, thats high ass compression with those pistons.
