Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to import a 3rd gen Integra Type-R. If it is possible how would you do it. Thanx

Well, I just imported a Canadian 2001 Type R into North Carolina. Anything is possible...

Previous owner in Washington state imported this car about 8 months ago. I think import duties were only about $300.

It's nice having the only 2001 Championship White Type R on the east coast............unless someone can prove otherwise!

I doubt that.. If you consider im canadian east coast and y got a white ITR and i know a 2001 white one too, hehe.. but in USA your certainly not the only one ont he whole coast, out of 300 000 million people someone been there done that, you better believe it:)

Ummm, I think I understand what you just said.

You live in eastern Canada, and you know someone who has a 2001 CW Type R (in Canada, I presume.)

i know one for sure, maybe a couple others too.. i mean personnallyknow though... but dunno bout states, somone doest have original paint maybe but alot get em repainted white...

Well canadian cars are pretty easy and in retrospect very inexpensive to import. In order to get a right hand drive ITR imported into the us that's not a chop, it'll cost you very close to ten grand . There is a whole slew of different proceedures and hassles you need to go through, and for the most part, most of it you can't do yourself, and would need to pay a company like Motorwreck or evolution imports, who has experience in it.

Don't get me wrong, it's possible, but do you really want to pay close to $30K for a 2 year old ITR???

Try and find one that's alreay here, it'll be a lot cheaper, and a hell of a lot less hassle.

Yeah i know its expensive, but finding a stock jdm itr in the states is pretty hard, psch finding a rhd itr is hard. But to me its worth it, i turned down a civic hatchback just so i can save up to get the ITR. right now im looking at some rhd itrs for around $25k including to legalize it.

Getting a JDM Integra Type R is quite different from getting a Canadian Type R. The latter being almost identical to a US model. The JDM models on the other hand do not meet any kind of federal crash safety or emmissions standards and it's next to impossible and certainly very expensive to get one imported and titled legally.

there is a CW 2001 R in Virginia too.

i talked to a epa/dot certified importer and yes it is expensive and difficult to import a jdm car. you have to get a crash test report from the manufacturer and have the exaust fixed/modified to pass emission. It is though, easier to import it as a race car but you cant drive it on the road or have it registered. to convert the car to dot is $2500, and $2500 for epa(includes labor and documentation), then you add duty, bonds, insurance, parts test, and transportation.
