Hi guys, I plan to run 10psi or maybe 12 and keep my stock compr. ratio. Which one will help me hgasket or bguard?

Head gasket doesn’t provide "Help" Think about it as a sandwich. (no I haven’t ate lunch so I guess Im hungry…lmfao) The "Head" is the top bun; the "Block" is the bottom bun. The gasket between them is your piece of meat. The thinner your gasket the higher your compression, (the less boost u need to make more power) the fatter your gasket is the lower your compression goes (and the more boost u need to make up for the hp). This is a REALLY tricky tread off. You need a really good tuner when you are looking to boost a ITR because of the high comp level it comes with stock. Don’t worry about the head gasket for boost unless your tuner doesn’t feel comfortable tuning a motor at such a high compression level. I wouldn’t boost more then 10 psi on a stock motor by the way. And i would boost 10 psi on a race day and that’s it.
A block guard really isnt good IMO and not worth the money. 90% of cracked sleeves start at the center of the block and work there way up. The block guard at the top does nothing but add heat to the combustion chamber, leading to more detonation, leading to more cracking in the first place. It doesn’t prevent a cylinder wall from failing; it'll just catch the rod that would go thru the block. Either sleeve the motor or leave it alone...not worth it IMO.
If you are going to be running that much boost you need to start looking at building your motor up. Or you can blow it then build your new one up.

While this is true, and it is all in the tuning whether it be low or high comp. IMHO I think that with a lower comp ratio there is more margin for error if something does go wrong therfore making it safer.
