loosing as in leaks, no.
but burning oil off is very common.
I can burn 2qts in a 25-30 min session on track.
I'd say about half of the Rs out there if not more burn oil. Some people had the dealer replace parts to resolve the issue w/ success and some just add oil as needed.
Just be sure to keep an eye on the level.

remedies...
first you need to find the cause then you could apply a remedy.
some have had bad valve seals, some and many had bad/worn piston rings and some say a cheap pcv valve did the trick.
if it really bothers you and-or needs attention then let a few mechanics give you estimates on what has to be done.
In my case it's rings...and that means lots of $

I used Moble 1 since the first night I got it.( 8 miles new) I think that was my mistake... never broke in 100%
since 04 I have been using 5/30 GTX, cheaper to burn
and as for checking, Before each and every time I start the caR I check the oil level. can't be too safe. Besides it's cool opening the hood and showing off that red valve cover

Many people run Mobil synthetic 5/30 or 10/30 without complaint. Some say Mobil burns off easier than others but show me the evidence and ill believe it. I have also heard of people running and loving German Castrol Syntec (different then normal Castrol Syntec and can be gotten at some Autozones) but i have looked for it and not had success finding it. Personally, i burn a quart every 500-1000 miles (2001 with 128XXX miles, yes i drive a lot) so i may go the Lucas Oil Treatment route for my next oilchange to see if it helps. Will report on it later.

IIRC, the Integra Handbook states that 5/30 is good for all operating temperatures and 10/30 is good for any temperatures over 20 F i believe. Somethin like that. Ive heard of guys run 15/40 in Preludes and such but i dunno if id go there jus due to startup issues. As Erik said tho, 5/40 should be fine.

Have you tried checking your PCV valve? That is an easy one to eliminate. I have heard of some owners removing the breather box on the back side of the block and running a Catch Can. Check that breather and see it is soaked in oil. I to consume oil, but only mostly at higher rpm's. If I take a trip on the Autobahn and keep it in Vtec most the time I might use 1/2 quart for 3 tanks of gas (750 - 840 miles). I was using Mobil 1 5W30 and read an article about how Mobil 1 change it's base stock's like castrol did, and is no longer a true synthetic. I just recently changed over to Royal Purple. Consuption seemed to be up at first, but has leveled off to what it used to be. With the PCV valve all you have to do is pinch the hose and let it go. You should hear the ball poping closed.
#8 is the PCV valve it is located on the intake manifold near the cylinder head. Look between the two middle runners on the IM. #2 is the breather chamber I was referring to. To check pinch hose # 6 and let it go. You should hear the ball moving. Our just pull it off and blow through it. top shouldn't be able to blow through bottom you should.

From my own experience...
Mobile 1 5/30 from the first night til the low 60's then the valve gave not that longer after I switched to GTX 5/30
It's been a smokey ride since the second week of owning it new.
So I checked (at 30,000 miles & 50,000miles) the breather box- clean and working, and replaced the pcv both times and it's still tosses out plumes of both oil and black smoke (vid somewhere). Of course over time it's slowly getting worse.
Now here is a kicker, the complete head minus cams was replaced under warranty for a chipped/ fractured/ burnt/ melted off an exhaust valve. if you search here I have a thread with the pictures...
Now one of my close friend replaced (i think) the valve seals and either reduced or eleminated the smoke.
And my last comment, when I ( and so many others) had the stock exhaust or most of it (modded) I saw tons of crap on the bumper. But with the BCIII exhaust and it sticking out so far I have very little crap on the bumper.
My .03 cents

I don't have any smoke coming out the exhaust. I too purchased my ITR new (had 8tenths of a mile before test drive, and 5 miles when I left) I swaped to Mobil 1 at first change 1k miles. I also purchase a 00 Civic Si 6 months earlier new with 20 miles. I did the same went to mobil 1 at 1k miles. I sold the civic 1 1/2 years ago and had 63k miles on it. It never used any oil? I drove the hell out of it. My ITR has 58k on it now and has consumed oil since about 28k miles. My plugs have all looked fine, and exhaust is fine. I wonder if it evaporates. Since it occures at higher rpm's I am thinking maybe the oil squiters might cause it. The piston gets hotter at the higher rpm's, and the squiter hits it causing the oil to evaporate?
I read where a couple of ITR owners on HT changed over the Amsoil and had reduced oil consumption. I would try it, but being over in Germany I can't get it. The BX over here just started selling Royal Purple not to long ago. Evaporation may indeed be the culprit in my consumption. I didn't really have problem till I got over here in Germany and my ITR had 28k on it then. 5th gear Vtec cruising. I like cruise at 120-130 mph 6-7k rpm's.
