question about modding intake (if it even works)

i have a aem cai, two pieces from the intake manifold to the bottom right side of my car (if your sitting in the car). i was wondering if i took out this second piece, the half that has the air filter on the bottom of my car, if it would help air flow at all. so basically have the air be sucked in like a short ram..... if this makes any sense.

so you want to make a short ram out of your intake? I guess you can... it won't help on performance though...
