240 whp Full-Race Civic chase down of 700 whp Ford GT 40
I've got an ITR tranny and 5-lug swap, so I'm allowed to post here.
Went to Carguys at VIR last weekend. Some nice cars there including a souped up Ford GT 40. The owner was claiming over 700 whp and bragging about how no one has been able to catch him or keep up with him. I got tired of him bragging and decided to shut him up.
10 min video ~155mb

chitty quality smaller video ~18mb

He claimed he was going 160 to 180 in the straights. Judging by the video, I would say he is hitting 160. That car was just stupid fast in a straight line. And he had awesome fire balls.

The Atom chase was awesome. My other camera completely died on me. I'm not sure if I got video of that or not.

I only did drag racing but man that looks fun. Looks like gran turismo!!!
How long have you been racing. I would love to try it out!

You guys have some awesome tracks on the west coast. Defiantly worth looking into.HB_BiggyBear wrote:Very cool. Nice track to. I don’t know if they have tracks like that where I live in Huntington Beach CA.

I've been doing this for about 8 years now. Once you go to a big track, there's nothing else to compare it to.

I've attended about 30 HPDE's like NASA and Carguys. I'm actually instructing for Carguys now and going to look to get my instructors license for NASA this upcoming year too.CT_the_AZN wrote:Sweet!great drivin man. have you ever attend a driving school somewhere or something like that?

^i've always wanted to attend one of the Skip Barber or Mario Andretti classes...but being military...i never have the time to go. if they say i have to work, i HAVE to work of i'll get the most royal fuck-age you could possibly imagine...and not the good kind either. What's your opinion on the Skip Barber and Mario Andretti schools?
Re: 240 whp Full-Race Civic chase down of 700 whp Ford GT 40
Overpriced and overrated.CT_the_AZN wrote: What's your opinion on the Skip Barber and Mario Andretti schools?
But you do get to learn how to drive a "race" car.
If you want to drive your own car, for the price, you could get in three or four NASA weekends. You still get your own instructor. You still get classroom time.

^^REALLY? i know of a few people that have gone to the NASA events and all...but i was always under the impression that they were just, 'here's the start, here's the finish. have fun' kinda deals. Thanks though!....

To clarify, I've never been to a Skip Barber and Mario Andretti schools. But I have not heard positive feedback from the racers on what they learned there.CT_the_AZN wrote:^^REALLY? i know of a few people that have gone to the NASA events and all...but i was always under the impression that they were just, 'here's the start, here's the finish. have fun' kinda deals. For the NASA events, you should be paired with an instructor who should actually teach you something. If he's not doing his job and just sitting there, then you need to talk to the NASA officials and get another instructor. Part of the fee you pay in any of these events is for the instructor time and classroom time, not just time on the track.
