You shouldn not be running a stock ITR valve train with the stage2 cams, your likely to run into some either valve float, or a broken retainer. WIth the stage one cams, you can get away with it, provided you leave your stock rev limiter, but with the stage 2 cams, they're substancially more aggresive.

I tried the stage ones, they're pretty good, but the stage2 cams just put down more power all across the rpm band, and to me seem to be fine at idle and every day drivability. For the most part, I've seen them for the same price, so......

Any way, good luck,

If you want to run the skunk stage 2 cams you'll have change the inner valve springs only. Were using portflow inners and itr outter works FINE!

Yeah, until you crack a retainer and drop a valve. The stock ITR retainers only hold up till about 8700rpm consistantly, any higher than that, and you run a great risk of breaking something. It may work fine, but as far as longevity goes, is it really worth skimping out on a set of 120 dollar retainers??

So you can run the SK2's with the ITR Val train, and all you have to do is change the inners and the ret? Is this true?

sounds about right, and though port flo does make a stiffer inner spring for like $80 or something along those lines, and I've heard good things about them, you may actually want to spend a couple extra bucks and go with a whole new set, especially if your factory ITR springs have more than like 40K miles. Either way, up to you, but the retainers are a must!!!
