Re: Type R Surgery
I would take off the bumper again and make sure that clips on the car aren't bent. If they are bent, gently bend them back. Also make sure the bumper (when not mounted on the car) looks okay when sitting on the ground (preferable sitting on the ground on a blanket). It sort of sounds like when you t...

Re: Type R Surgery
First, make sure that you didn't break or damage any of the clips that attach to the top and sides of the rear bumper. Then double check to make sure that you have attached all screws and fully clip the bumper into all clips (especially the ones on both side, as there are two on the right side and t...

Re: Shaved Emblems and JDM conversions
If it performs like a Type R should, I don't care if the owner makes it primer gray, shaves the red emblems, and spray paints "Type Ahrrrr" across the hood. As long as it does hurt the performance characteristics, it's all good; in my humble opinion. Handling and speed above all else. Pers...

Replacing brake fluid in R
I want to replace the brake fluid in the R, and have a couple of questions. About how much brake fluid will I need to buy to bleed the entire system? Do I need to bleed the ABS modulator separately and, if so, how? The 1996-97 service manual shows a separte procedure for bleeding the ABS modulator, ...

Re: good deal?
IMHO, that seems like a fair price; assuming that it is in excellent shape. I am a bit biased however. Even though I have a 2000 Black Type R, Championship White has always been my favorite color. I love my Black Type R, but CW is the defining Type R color. I would try to get it for an even $16 if p...

Re: what insurance company you guys use?????
I am 28, married, multiple policy discount with State Farm in Colorado and I pay $577 for 6 months on my 2001 Black R with full coverage.
At $5000 a year, in 2 1/2 years you have paid enough in premiums to buy another R. I hate insurance companies.

Re: radio question.
It sounds like you have to enter in the security code. If you had to disconnect the battery, then you have to re-input the security code as disconnecting the battery clears the code from the radio's memory. If you don't have the radio code (should be on a little card that came with the car), then yo...

Re: ITR LSD question
Okay, I decided to go back out and try something different. If I jack up the front end so that both tires are off the ground, just the car into first gear and then turn one of the front tires the other tire turns in the opposite direction. If the car is in neutral (as it was in my first test above),...

Re: ITR LSD question
Eric, I just got in and saw your post. Having never paid it any attention in the past, I just went back out to the garage, jacked up the Type R and spun the driver's side tire forward. The passenger side front tire started to spin in the opposite direction very slowly at first and then didn't turn. ...

Re: What fluids do you run in your R?
Actually what I meant to ask was is the actual procedure for changing the tranny fluid at all different between the GS-R and the Type-R? I assume that it doesn't matter that the Type-R has a LSD. It is all part of the tranny. I will assume that the procedure is exactly the same. Place car on level s...

Re: What fluids do you run in your R?
hey all. I don't have a Type R service manual (all I have is the manual for the a 1997 GS-R). Do I can the tranny fluid the same way as the GS-R or do I have to do something special due to the Limited slip differential? I know it is a stupid question, but I am a little paranoid .

What fluids do you run in your R?
I have been curious about this for a while now. What fluids do you all run in your Type R and why? Coolant, oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid, clutch fluid, power steering fluid? I did a search and didn't find anything regarding coolant. I figured that I would ask about the others as well. I am about t...

Re: 60,000 miles, Time Belt?
sorry, one other question. Why do aftermarket cams wear the timing belt out faster? Is it because the cams themselves are a different size? Are the teeth sharper in some way? Just curious. I am not planning on changing them, but was a little curious.

Re: 60,000 miles, Time Belt?
I saw in the manual that they say 60,000 miles for severe conditions. I never take the R to the track. I do occassionally get a bit "spirited" in the canyons. I just tend to be a bit paranoid about my R. I think that I will take everyone's advise and wait until 90,000 and do the water pump...

60,000 miles, Time Belt?
I am almost at 60,000 miles and it is time for the 60,000 mile service. I have never changed a timing belt before, but thinking about giving it a try on the R. I have a service manual for a 1997 integra (I used to have a GS-R). Have any of you done this and what would you rate the difficulty? I read...

Turbo, what do I need?
Okay, I am getting closer to making a decision on whether to go FI on my R or not. I still have a couple of questions regarding turbocharging my R. 1. If I go with a hondata ECU, do I still need a boost controller? If so, what exactly does a boost controller do. I am under the impression that a boos...

Re: Does the Type R LOSE torque with a 4-1 header???
Hey Typeruz I found some information that you might find useful. Here is a link to a header comparison done on the same type R. I found it in the ITRCA's FAQ section under performance mods. http://www.automotiveperformanceengineering.com/header.html The dynos show the stock vs new header. I think th...

Re: Production Number
I am not sure if you can tell what Type R number it is. However, by decoding the VIN number you will be able to tell that it is indeed a Type-R
Use this guide from ITRCA's FAQ to decode it:

I know exactly how you feel. When I ride my 2001 CBR600F4i and then drive the R, I can't help but feel alittle let down by the acceleration. However, there is something to be said for relaxing in a car. On the bike, I have to be constantly of the defense. I am always worring about whether the idiot ...

Where can you find the helm manual used? Helm, Inc has been out of stock for at least a month now. It is really annoying. I need manual 61ST705 - 1998 Integra Service Manual. Thanks everyone for the great input. Fredtoast, As for the intercooler, I did find their website and there is one dyno ( http://www.lhtperformance.net/sc.interc.html ). They say that on a B20 with vtec the intercooler added like 28 WHP and 26 ft/lb of torque. Honestly, I am not too concerned about t...

Re: JRSC High Boost kit?
Yeah, I know. It is the old turbo vs supercharger question. But I really concerned about turbo lag. Now before I get flamed, I am not a turbo hater. On the contrary, turbos are the king regarding mid to top end performance. From what I understand (I could be waaaay off base), turbo lag is still pres...
